Dubrovnik ancient City walls are the most impressive sight you should definitely visit while in Dubrovnik. This UNESCO World Heritage Site offers magnificent views over the roofs of the Old Town, the island of Lokrum and the Adriatic Sea.
The best way to experience the walls of Dubrovnik is to walk along the 2 km circular route which loops around Old Town. Start climbing up the stairs above the Pile Gate, pass the Bokar Fortress and St John's Fortress, continue to the Ploce Gate and climb until you reach the Minceta Fortress - the highest point of the walls.
Along the way, enjoy spectacular views of the sea and landmarks of Dubrovnik. For the best views of the walls opt for a boat cruise or sea-kayaking tour and admire them from the sea-side.
Dubrovnik City walls are open to public year-round but note that opening times vary depending on the season.
The walls can get busy during the peak summer season, so we suggest you to book in-advance your tickets through Viator web-site. Once booked you will receive the voucher by e-mail.
You need to print it and exchange it for entrance ticket in the City walls office, located at the beginning of street "Siroka ulica" (second door at the right side when entering the street from Stradun).
The City walls ticket also includes a visit to the Lovrijenac Fortress which is located outside the western part of city walls and rises up on 37 m high cliff.
Dubrovnik City walls tickets can be purchased at each entrance as well as online through Viator web-site.
The main entrance to the city walls is situated at the beginning of Stradun (entering from Pile Gate) to the right-hand side. Tickets can be paid in Croatian Kunas or by credit cards - no Euros accepted.
Please note that Dubrovnik Card includes a free visit to the City walls.
